The McGilvra PTA spends nearly $1,500 per student each year.  These funds directly support student learning with 80% of the budget paying to ensure we have a full-time math and reading specialist, school tutors, and an art program. The PTA also cover the cost of an onsite coordinator so that we can offer a great selection of year-round after-school enrichment classes.  The remaining budget supports the library, the school garden, classroom projects, and school events.

The Central & North Seattle Schools PTA Alliance (CANSSPA) is a network of volunteers who are collectively working toward equity for all students in the Seattle School District. CANSSPA consists of over 15 elementary and K-8 schools in SPS districts 1-5 (north of I-90).  The group advocates for all children to receive adequate and equitable education through a model of network building, resource sharing, and collective advocacy. 

Funds donatesd to CANSSPA support member schools.  Recipient schools can use the funds where they are most needed. Examples of past uses include:

• Supporting training opportunities for educators

• Providing gift cards to families in need for basic necessities

• Providing classroom supplies and technology

An optional donation to CANSSPA is an excellent way to support our broader SPS community.
